The wonderful world of Disney tops the list for most Orlando vacations for kids of all ages. Walt Disney World Florida first opened its gates to the public just over thirty-five years ago, transforming a quiet southern farming community into the biggest international vacation destination in the world.

Disneyland Florida is made up of four amazing theme parks in Orlando: Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Disney Hollywood Studios, Disney Animal Kingdom, and Epcot. At 30,000 acres, Walt Disney World is the size of the city of San Francisco, and twice as big as Manhattan.

Universal Orlando Resort is a theme park resort in Orlando. It is a joint partnership between NBC Universal and the Blackstone Group. The resort consists of two theme parks (Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure), Universal CityWalk (a night-time entertainment destination), and three Loews Hotels. It is the largest property owned by Universal Studios Theme Parks, and is also the second largest resort in Orlando after the Walt Disney World Resort. The resort began with the original Universal Studios Florida which opened on June 7, 1990. Expansion occurred in 1999, adding Islands of Adventure, Universal CityWalk, on-site hotels, and two multi-level parking structures. What was once a single theme park became a gargantuan resort destination much larger than Universal Studios Hollywood, as well as designed to be a head-to-head rival to Walt Disney World Resort. The resort was originally named Universal Studios Escape but the name was quickly changed to Universal Orlando Resort.

Sea World Orlando is a marine mammal park featuring Orca, sea lion and dolphin shows zoological displays featuring various other marine animals. Sea World Orlando opened in 1973, their slogin is "As real as it gets". The park's icon is Shamu, the Orca. Shamu was the name of the first Orca brought to SeaWorld San Diego in the 1960s. 'Shamu' is now used as a stage name for adult Orcas in performances at all SeaWorld parks. Nine Orcas live at SeaWorld Orlando: Katina, Kalina, Tilikum, Taima, Takara, Kayla, Trua, Nalani, and Malia.

Aquatica is a water park constructed by Busch Entertainment Corporation and located near Orlando, Florida. The park, which opened to guests on March 1, 2008, is a companion to SeaWorld Orlando and is located across International Drive from the main theme park. The park is themed to the southern Pacific and features Australian and New Zealand based mascots.

Discovery Cove is a theme park near Orlando, Florida where guests can interact with a variety of marine animals, most notably bottlenose dolphins. The park, which is operated by the Busch Entertainment Corporation (the theme park division of Anheuser-Busch) is adjacent to SeaWorld Orlando. In addition to swimming with dolphins, Discovery Cove guests can interact with exotic birds, tropical fishes, rays ,and land mammals.

Universal's Islands of Adventure is a theme park located in Orlando. It opened in May 1999 as part of an expansion that, along with CityWalk and the Portofino Bay and Hard Rock hotels, converted Universal Studios Florida into the Universal Orlando Resort. The park's overall theme is that of a journey of exploration, where guests depart from a main port on an "inland sea" to visit five "islands," each having its own distinct theme, but all emphasizing fun and adventure. A planned sixth island, to open in 2010, will be based on the popular Harry Potter franchise. In 2007, Islands of Adventure hosted approximately 5.3 million guests, ranking it 9th among United States parks and 15th among all parks worldwide.

 

Miami is ranked as a global city for its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts and international trade. The city is home to many company headquarters, banks, and television studios. It is an international center for popular entertainment in television, music, fashion, film, and the performing arts. The city's Port of Miami is known for accommodating the largest volume of cruise ships in the world and is home to many cruise line headquarters. As of 2008, Miami is undergoing a large building boom with 24 skyscrapers that are expected to rise over 400 feet (122 m) currently under construction in the city. Miami’s skyline ranks third in the U.S., behind New York City and Chicago, and 18th in the world according to the Almanac of Architecture and Design. The city currently has nine of the ten tallest skyscrapers in the state of Florida, with the tallest being the 789-foot (240 m) Four Seasons Hotel & Tower.[9] In 2008, Miami was ranked as "America's Cleanest City" according to Forbes Magazine for its year-round good air quality, vast green spaces, clean drinking water, clean streets and city-wide recycling programs.
